Monica Bacelli, a graduate of the Conservatorio di Pescara, made her
debut at the age of 21 at the Teatro Sperimentale in Spoleto. Her career
has developed in major theaters both in Italy and internationally,
including La Scala Milan, the Vienna State Opera, The Royal Opera House
Covent Garden, the Opernhaus Zurich, the Salzburg Festival, La Fenice
Venice, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Teatro Real Madrid, La Monnaie
Brussels, the Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro, and the Netherlands Opera
Amsterdam. A winner of the Premio Abbiati, her repertoire spans from
Mozart and Rossini roles to Baroque and French opera. She has worked
extensively with L. Berio, performing roles composed for her. Among the
conductors she has worked with are Ivor Bolton, Riccardo Chailly,
Myung-Whun Chung, Valery Gergiev, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, René Jacobs, Zubin
Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren,Antonio Pappano, Trevor Pinnock, Simon
Rattle, Christian Thielemann, and Alberto Zedda.
